2 teens charged in bomb threats against Mississippi schools

Two teenagers have been charged with making bomb threats against a north Mississippi elementary school and high school.

Tate County Sheriff Brad Lance writes in a statement that a 17-year-old and a 13-year-old were arrested Thursday and charged in the case.

No bombs were found.

Lance says notes making bomb threats were found Wednesday in bathrooms at Strayhorn Elementary and Strayhorn High School. A third bomb threat was made against the high school on Thursday. The two schools share a campus in rural western Tate County.

The sheriff says investigators believe the 13-year-old left the note in the elementary bathroom, while the 17-year-old made both the threats against the high school.

Lance says he’s limited on the information he can release because the cases are being handled in youth court.
